Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop an oral disintegration film (ODF) containing A. cochinchinensis extract using the insoluble microparticle. ODF was evaluated parameters such as physical appearance, thickness, weight variation, surface pH, folding endurance, morphology study by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), swelling ratio and in vitro disintegration time. As no unaccountable peaks were observed by FT-IR and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis, so it was confirmed that the purity of developed formulations and no interaction of excipients with A. cochinchinensis extract. A. cochinchinensis extract loaded film was composed of polymer (pullulan and pectin, 10:1), plasticizer (PEG 400), insoluble microparticle (coral calcium) of < 75 ¥ìm and prepared by casting method. It was showed good folding endurance and peelability. Also it was rapidly disintegrated within 1 minutes without irritation in the mouth. Furthermore, it was stable for at least 3 month when stored at 40¡¾2¡É, 70¡¾5% relative humidity. Therefore, this study can be a guide on development process condition of ODF containing natural products.
